Meditation Teacher Training & Contemplative Studies

Starts Februray 3, 2024

There are many ways presence illuminates daily life. This is an invitation to deepen your understanding and experience of meditation with the support of an open-hearted learning community.

Dedicating some intentional time to retreat for short periods of intensive practice and contemplation is one of the most impactful, enriching experiences you can give yourself. This retreat is for anyone interested in making meditation accessible and effective amid life's dynamic flow and challenges. In our practice, we turn toward, rather than away from, life as it is.

This program will explore and contemplate a Buddhist approach to meditation, mindfulness and awareness practices applied to contemporary living.

FOR THOSE SEEKING PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION AS A MEDITATION INSTRUCTOR Much more than a short workshop. Learn how to safely and compassionately guide others while deepening your personal practice.. This registered training is accredited by Meditation Association of Australia.

YOGA NIDRA CERTIFICATION PHASE 1 is also included in this training.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

The Mindfulness Meditation & Contemplative Studies program is designed both for people interested in deepening and enriching their meditation practice and as a foundation for those who wish to gain accreditation as a meditation teacher.

By joining this training, you will become part of an engaged community who are dedicated to mindful, compassionate living for personal and social transformation.

  • This program is for anyone who would like to create a unique, intentional space for reflection, deepening and enriching your personal meditation and mindfulness practice while expanding your horizons through contemplative inquiry. This is an invitation to dive deeper together. You can participate in this programme without interest in becoming a teacher.

  • You will learn a spectrum of accessible methods to stabilise and maintain the momentum of your formal and informal applications of meditation.

  • If seeking accreditation as an instructor, learn the professional skills to teach mindfulness practices, awareness meditation and Yoga Nidra. Integrate teaching meditation within existing modalities – such as health professionals, yoga teachers, therapists, educators and volunteers supporting mental health initiatives.

  • Be a part of an interactive community of warm hearted, like-minded people. Most of us seek community so that we can meet others and be part of something larger than ourselves. Participants from previous programs often express how they have built friendships, continue to share resources and feel supported by kindred spirits.

This course far exceeded my expectations. It was life-changing. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to teach meditation, shift perspective and strengthen their practice!

COURSE FORMAT - Three Phases

One Immersive Weekend over six months: February - July 2024

Mindfulness Contemplative Studies Meditation Teacher Training program is offered in three phases:

Phases 1 and 2 students are invited to join us in this transformational meditation and study to establish an accessible, sustainable personal practice and expand your horizons through contemplative inquiry.

If you choose to continue to Phase 3 you will learn the skills to guide and teach meditation and awareness practices to others.

Each phase supports the other and progresses at a steady pace through guided practice , contemplative study and group discussions. Each phase is supported by Michele’s learning platform with access to extensive video recordings and course materials. You have a choice to enrol in all three phases at the start in order to complete your accredited Meditation Teacher Training, or you may prefer to enrol in each phase as you go. These monthly training weekends and the lived space in between enable sufficient time to deepen, enjoy and assimilate the learning and application to your meditation practice and engagement with the world.

Phase 1 (1 weekend in person and online): Foundations in Mindfulness. A Buddhist approach to meditation, mindfulness and related awareness practices, is a stand-alone one weekend retreat open to everyone. You may decide at the completion of the weekend that you will join us for the whole program. Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for participating in phase 1, although ideally you will have engaged in a personal meditation practice for at least 2 years.

Phase 2 (3 weekends Online): Meditation and Contemplative Studies. Stabilise and deepen your understanding and experience of meditation over 3 weekends once a month. Learn methods to maintain the momentum of your formal and informal applications of mindfulness. Phase 2 offers many creative options and aims to provide the nourishment, techniques and guidance to keep you inspired. This is essential study and experience if you intend to teach meditation and mindful approaches to others. Phase 2 consists of 3 weekends, held monthly. Prerequisite: Phase 1. You have the option to participate with or without interest in professional accreditation.

Phase 3 (2 weekends: Inperson & Online): The Art of Teaching Meditation. In this final phase of the six month program, you will learn how to professionally, ethically and skilfully teach meditation and mindfulness to varied audiences and situations.  It requires familiarity with an enduring personal meditation practice and more than a short workshop to learn how to guide and attune to others. With an emphasis on teaching skills, you will also be guided in how to work with some of the challenges and respond to FAQ’s from new meditators.

What previous students say

“The teachings and content were so rich that I found there was a dual process of both tying the learning to my own meditation and yoga practice, but also instant clarity around what aspects would be helpful to particular clients with whom I work.”

 -  Dr. Jen

“Michele’s meditation retreats are both calming and enlightening. Her Mindfulness & Contemplative photography retreat in particular, gave me a new perspective on nature and life; I now stop and reflect on the beauty between the spaces. Michele draws on her depth of knowledge and experience which allows her to connect and teach with sophisticated simplicity.”

– Alyssa

“Michele de-mystified meditation for me and I have now established a regular, daily meditation practice which I look forward to…. it's been wonderful to understand what meditation exactly is and establish the discipline to meditate.”

– Barbara

“Michele brings a deeply grounded presence to her courses which is balanced by the curiosity she has for the experience of others and her sense of humour. I found Michele's teachings allowed me to develop a practice I could make real, for me and my circumstances.”

- Brenton
